Here are my plans of what I would like each of my panels to look like. I have printed off all of the images and drawn on them with pen, to show where I'd like the text to go and how I'd like everything to be placed. Unfortunately the printer wasn't great so the colours haven't come out that clearly, on screen these pictures are much brighter and clear, they can be seen in my pervious post of my final shortlist of pictures for Digipak.
Front cover:
The close up is used here on the front cover. As I suspected, the writing unfortunately has to cover the artist; however this is not on her face, only her neck which remains conventional. The text on here would probably look better with white writing instead, as black is quite hard to see.
I will ask Rebecca if she thinks that the writing on the neck is a problem, if it is, I have a back up plan of using a banner (which Marisa suggested) to put over the image and place the writing on top of that.
Back cover:
I have used the profile shot here and to the left hand side, we see the Track list running vertically along it. Again, the writing would probably look better in white as it is quite hard to see here in black. Underneath the Track list, there is a sticker with the Bonus Tracks written on it. This second disk with Bonus Tracks creates a unique selling point, as it has songs that have never been heard before on it. Therefore these tracks will be clearly highlighted on the back to they stand out. We also see the bar code here to the left, as well as the Copyright information in small print at the bottom.
Due to the poor colouring of the images that were printed off, it is hard to see the connection between the images. On screen both pictures have the same lighting and colouring as they are both bright and they are booth shot in the same location, which is how I create a smooth connection between the front and back covers.
Outer centre panel:
As I am having 6 panels, when the Digipak is opened, this is the centre panel that will be seen. I contemplated having this particular picture on the front cover, however I decided against this as I thought it would be really good to put on this panel instead. The artist is looking straight into the camera as if she's looking the consumer in the eyes, this will make them feel more connected to her and want to open up further and listen to her music. Across the image, I plan to have the lyric "You are full on Wonder" written across it, like I have drawn on here. The lyric will be more faded into the image though and it will probably use white font to make it clearer to read.
I had an idea to put some music notes in the corners, which will link back to the genre of Soul as it is all about the passion for the music and the voice.
Inside Panels:
These are the inner panels of my 6 panel Digipak. I have sectioned it off into 3 parts so that the 2 disks can fit in the middle and left panels. I have used the panoramic style picture here that I planned to so that the artist appears on the right panel. On the panel, the lyrics to the single Wonder, will be lightly written over this.
This is the only picture I didn't print off and work on as a hard copy for my mock up, therefore as it was online, we can see the full colours of the picture. They are bright and vibrant and the other 3 pictures have the same colourings online.
