Pitch Simulation Activity - Pitching for a Video Contract

In lesson (28/09/11) we were given a task of having 25 minutes to plan our groups idea for a video concept and to prepare a short pitch that we had to present to the rest of the class.

First of all we had to read through the lyrics of a song and make initial notes of them (the ideas that came to mind, ideas of location & setting and the idea of the genre). Then we had to lesson to the song and think about the genre again now that we had heard the song, what Goodwin’s theory will suit the song and lyrics. After we went into our groups and compared ideas.

Then we were given 25 minutes in the group to prepare a pitch involving a storyboard of the first 12 shots of the video, the ideas, target audience, locations / settings.

Below is the storyboard of the first 12 shots of the video from the pitch

Overall as a class we all had very similar ideas of the use of using illustration and the idea of the target audience also as a class our first few shot were very similar.

This activity has helped and prepared me on what I have to do with my group when it comes to us presenting our pitch for the music video which we will be presenting. Also it lets us now what we would need to include into the pitch, in order for it to be a successful pitch.
