What I Got Out Of the Chat with Chris

After having a chat with Chris the videotographer, director, camera man, who works along side Emeli Sande (an artist similar to our artist Sibora Sokioli) promoting her and what she does by documenting her life. I decided to look at the video again and discuss what I got out of the chat with him and how it can help with our filming, editing, performance and overall music video make.

He told us that Emeli likes to do things different, which is noticed in all her videos as they are all different and that she doesn't like to conform to what other artists and musicians are doing or what people expect her to do. Emeli is a storyteller and she tells the story of her lyrics in her videos doing different things like being inspirational, fresh and doing new stuff.

Everyone’s understanding of a story is different, and so is the way they tell a story. So he said as a group we should figure out what the word wonder means to us and how we should portray the meaning and the word Wonder. In previous discussions as a group we have done this and came up with different ideas such as symbolising the meaning of wonder through dance, religion, using powder paint but then we decided that we would symbolise the word wonder through our new artist performance by her body language, movements and facial expressions.

Chris also mentioned about people knowing who Emeli Sandes is and noticing her music and music videos by her hair style. So in our video maybe we can have something significant in our video that people can notice and remember our music video and the new artist that we our trying to promote. Maybe we could do this by our performer’s mise-en-scene.

We discussed our ideas with Chris about our locations and he say that in his opinion that the similar the idea the better it is but it also depends of camera work, editing, and lighting and if we can pull it off (hopefully we can!).

From watching the video back from the chat with Chris he mentions about how important filming is and he talks about how framing is important and if we want something we should get want we want. He also talks about how important editing and lighting and it is something that we will be focusing in on while filming.
