Rascals - Fire Blaze has now been released! The single was posted on Youtube on two days ago on November 18th so it took 16 days for the post-production process to happen as all footage for this video was filmed in one day on 2nd November. This has shown me that the deadline that we are working to for our music video project is a realistic time limit as around two weeks is the same that this production had.
Quick Summary:
The whole video is in Black and White and this idea was planned in the pre-production process. The footage on the play back screen came out in Black and White, at the time on set when I saw the footage come out Black and White I did wonder why; but now I understand that it was because they planned this idea way before the filming process so it's not something you can spontaneously decide to do, it has to be pre-planned.
In terms of Vernallis' theory, this music video cuts to the beat. The song has clear rhythmical changes and a strong rapid beat which the editors used to their advantage to make some very interesting shots with.
As for Mulvey's theory, this video follows the conventions as we see two females apparel in this video as extras. They are dressed in short clothing with basically barely anything on in order to show their bodies off to the boys. They are seen from the males point of view and they are only there to amplify the boys image.
This was a 12 hour shoot where they got lots of filming done and they worked super hard with barely any breaks of messing around, they knew exactly what they were doing. Although only one location is used in this video, there was many different base tracks filmed from different angles. I would say about 12 base tracks were filmed which enabled them to cut nicely on the beat to look at the same artists but from different perspectives which makes the video more aesthetically pleasing.
It was interesting to watch the final product as when I watch now, it I see it in a new light because I was actually there on set as it was filmed so I know understand and know what they did to achieve it. It is very gratifying knowing that I was involved in the making of this video and it was a great experience.
And meeting the boys was great too!
