When I was told we were
going to remake a music video I had very little original understanding of how
it was do for example I had no idea of what a base track was or how it was done
but I did notice them in music videos (before the we started) and I had little
understanding about using cutaways during editing this is because when me and
my group were editing our thriller opening we did some exploring on FinalCut
Pro. But I did know what lip-syncing was and how it was done and the importance
of it when it comes to make music videos this is because I have seen some
makings of music videos.
When it can to organising
filming in terms of props, costume and actors we decided when we were planning
and doing our pitch in the lift that us as a group we were going to do all the
acting because we were all girls and that two of us will wear mask of the two
men in the music video but then because we couldn’t find a good photograph of
the two men in the music video we got two boys from our media class to do the
acting. In the original music video there was only one prop which was a
microphone which we needed we decided that we will bring our own but on the day
of filming we forgot to bring it so we left it out. When it came to the
costumes we were going to wear we decided to come in bright clothes and funny
outfits that we owned and to put on bright colour make-up which was similar to
the time the original music video was made and what they were wearing. Over I
think that the organising of the filming in terms of props, costume and actors
was a bit successful.
The editing of the piece of
the music video was very different compared the thriller opening video that I
done this is because the different style of editing which was the base tracks.
When filming we had to do at least two base tracks which was us filming from
the start to the ending with no stops to the music where as when we were
filming our thriller opening we did chucks but never filmed from the beginning
to the enduing. Also during editing we layered the clips and the clip on top
was the one that was seen which we didn’t do during the thriller opening. When
we were editing we had to mute our clips so we can lip-sync the filming we did
with the music being heard properly and we didn’t have to do that with our
thriller.
Overall I think the our
groups remake of the Los del Rio - Macarena music video was successful because
we were able to sync our lips with the original lyrics of the music video
during editing so it looks like our acting and actors are actually singing the
song also we were able to have 2 complete base tracks which we edited around
and we learnt the dance as well as the lyrics to the song and were able to
remake 45 second of the original Los del Rio - Macarena music video. I think
that if we had more time to edit and film our remake would be even better.
