In lesson today (26/09/12) we were given a proper tutorial from the new
technician Trevor on how to use base tracks and lip-syncing video with sound on
FinalCut pro using footage filmed by a group from last year which I then
re-edited to make a new short music video.
First of all I had to import the song (audio) which was
Ellie Goulding ‘I’ll Hold My Breath’ and then import the filming they did.
After I had to lesson to all the video they filmed with the performer. I decided
to put markers whenever the performer sang the first word of the lyrics. At first
it was hard to put markers in when ever the performer sang the first word because
she was mining not singing but later on she started singing quietly so I would
go to the audio waves to put in the makers so it would be easier for me to put
the marker in the correct place. After I did this five times I unlinked the
audio from the footage filmed and deleted the audio from it so all I could hear
was the real Ellie Goulding song. Then I put markers on the song on ever beat.
I found it easy when it came to doing this because I had done GCSE music and I play
drum kit so counting beats is not hard for me. After this I linked all the
markers that I have done at the same place with the marker in the audio, which
created my base tracks, and then I cut the filming according to the markers.
After deleted clips I didn't want and my short re-edited music video was
completed.
