AMBER - Goodwin's theory
Andrew Goodwin was the director of the Music and Organist at
Bangor Cathedral for 37 years. Goodwin
has presented a theory about how music videos are promoted through the use of
the visuals in the song. There are three ways in which a music video can do
this; they are, through Illustration, Amplification or Disjuncture.
The definitions:
Illustration – The video uses a set of images to
illustrate what is going on in the lyrics, so we can see what the lyrics mean.
The persona will almost act out what the lyrics are saying and images will be
shown that are directly related to the words. This can also help us to define
the genre of a music video and this is the most common method of promoting a
music video.
Amplification - This gives a new meaning to the music
video. The images used are not of direct relation to the lyrics but still hold
some kind of connection to the theme of the song. However, it is not rigidly structured to
defining what the lyrics mean like in the Illustration method. This method is
flexible because the meaning and effects can be manipulated into your own
vision so we see the video in a whole new light.
Disjuncture - This is where the meaning of the lyrics
is completely ignored. Random images are shown that are not related to the
theme of the song at all, which may confuse the viewer but can be used to give
a completely different effect and vibe to what the lyrics are actually about.

-We were able to use two back-tracks which can be noticed in
the video
One of the main things that we need in our music video which can be noticed in many real music videos are the use of base-tracks. After we learnt what a base-track was and how to use FinalCut Pro to edit using base-tracks, we were able to successfully add it to our remake as base-tracks are seen in the original Los del Sol - Macarenca.

-We had cuts in the video (which some were do on the beat)
We also learnt that in the original music video cuts and edits were done in time with the beat of the song and this can also be seen in our remake.

-We were able to do the lip-syncing
When filming we were told in order for the lip-syncing to work well and be made as easy as possible when editing the footage with the sound together, we should sing the lyrics instead of pretending to sing the lyrics. So after filming and singing the lyrics while editing we were able to lip-sync all the footage we filming very will with the audio of the song.

Request to supply lyrics
I decided to visit Foxes official website to see what I could learn about her. Her website is www.iamfoxes.com . After clicking on a tab I managed to find an email address on how to contact her management. I decided that I will send an email to the management team asking for them to supply the official original song lyrics to the song Echo. I thought that this would be a good idea because although I tried very hard to transcribe them accurately, it would still be good to get the official lyrics if they are willing to supply them to me. Below is a screen shot of the email that I sent off to Dan Stevens.
AMBER - Transcribing the lyrics to Echo by Foxes
As Foxes is a very new artist, her first official video was only posted up on Youtube a few days ago on Wednesday 26th September 2012. This video was of the song that I want to use called 'Echo'. Because of this no official lyrics have yet been released so we are unsure of how long it will take for them to be up on the internet. Therefore I decided to listen to the lyrics of Echo and transcribe them because if we choose this song then the performer will need to start learning the lyrics as soon as possible. Above is a picture of me carefully listening to the video to transcribe word for word what I can hear her singing. This task was very tricky and took me a few hours but it was worth the effort I put into it so we can start learning asap.
Copyright clearance
Above is the email that I have sent off to Neon Gold Records requesting Copyright permission to their song, Echo by an artist called Foxes.
Foxes is a new british artist whose real name is Louisa Rose Allen. She is from from Southampton and is 22 year-olds. Foxes has only recently been signed to Neon Gold Records.
I have chosen to request permission for this song as I came across it recently on Youtube and fell in love with the song as soon as I heard it. Her beautiful voice and true indie style appealed to me and I would like to look into her further and if my group agrees, to recreate a music video to it. I believe that there is a lot that we could do with this song, it has a lot of potential to make an amazing video.
